I’ve actually known Brandi for awhile now. I’ve even had the pleasure of teaching her when she was in high school! So it was amazing being able to attend and photograph such a great family event such as her wedding. Brandi and Paola met at Gallaudet University. Throughout the years, they’ve grown together and their love endured. Brandi is intelligent, vibrant and beautiful on the inside as well as out. Paola is kind, dignified, and such a sincere person. Together they create a harmonious relationship that is sweet as candy!
Brandi and Paola got married at the historic Ole Jim building at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. It was built in 1881, and today serves as the Alumni Relations building on the first floor and banquet hall for weddings, conferences, parties and more on the second floor. With its charming ambiance, its exposed beams, stained glass windows and graffiti brick chimney; it made for a great backdrop to photograph this day's event.
What was also unique about Paola and Brandi's Gallaudet University wedding was how non-traditional it was and how much emphasis they put on being able to be themselves. They didn’t have a bridal party, they didn’t have elaborate floral arrangements and they didn't have it in a church; but what they had was everything that made them happy and allowed them to be themselves, which trumps everything else in my opinion. It was different, but in a good way. I particularly loved the bright purple and pink colors they chose that matched the stained glass windows. Such a great night for a wonderful couple. Thanks to Paola and Brandi for having me and being my first wedding to photograph. It was a pleasure spending your first day as married couple. Congratulations!
